DIY Pampering

So this morning I was stretched out on my couch in my cropped yoga pants.  Feeling lazy for sure.  As I was goofing around with my son's new Kindle, I looked down at my legs and realized I was looking like a cross between myself and an alligator.  Even though I have been faithfully applying lotion after my showers each day, I had dry, scaly, scary looking legs.  They didn't feel good either!

I am an hour and a half from the nearest bath products store.  It's also really expensive to buy those lovely jars of exfoliating sugar scrub that smell like heaven in a jar.  I remember spending twenty bucks on a medium sized jar of it.  So I decided to come up with a little DIY scrub for my poor, parched skin. Luckily I had the perfect items in my pantry already and you probably do too....

I used:

2 cups of brown sugar

1.5 cups of olive oil  (not extra virgin, it's too heavy and has a scent)

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. (not imitation)

15 drops of Lavender essential oil

It's a good idea to use a glass bowl and metal utensil to stir it.  The essential oils would ruin a wooden spoon for sure.  I mixed it up really well with the wisk and was happy with how it blended.  The amount was enough for two jars. One for me and one for a bestie!  Share it and double the fun!

A little jar of awesomeness!

A little jar of awesomeness!

I am happy to report I tested it out and it was every bit as divine as the stuff you buy at the bath store!  The lavender vanilla scent was very calming and just what the day called for.  My legs are now smooth, soft and feel like I went to a spa. The only warning I have is that it makes your tub floor really slippery, so use with caution.

A little self pampering is always  a good idea.  Little moments of indulgence can really help us stay balanced.  Let me know if you try this out!  I'd love to know what you think!

Now go make something beautiful,
