Montana Living

If you are even a little bit like me, you love the chance to see how other people live.  I love getting inspiration from friends and people I know for, I guess you could say, the art of living well.  I so love the art of making our homes as "homey" as possible.  After all, many of us spend the majority of our lives at home.  We might as well love it!

Some of you might remember one of my "besties", Michelle.  I wrote a little post some time ago, about her charming, western themed home in a "Real Ranch House" in Colorado.  Michelle has such a knack for making her home feel like it belongs in one of those fancy western home magazines. Plus, she does it all on a shoestring budget with four kids and a husband to work around!  Lucky for me, Michelle, her real-life-working-cowboy husband and their kiddos recently moved to another absolutely breathtakingly beautiful ranch.  This place is only a couple of hours from my door, so we recently got to visit and I brought along my camera!

My dear friend and her family never really know what type of house they will be living in when they take a new job.  The house comes along with the position when you hire on at a big "outfit".  Every time they have moved, Michelle makes their new house a "home".

So, come on in and set a spell.... Here's a little taste of Montana ranch living.

In our neck of the woods, we usually don't use front doors.  It's common practice to enter the home of a friend through the back door, like family.  As we step inside Michelle's back door we're in the kitchen.  Her collection of vintage goodies lines the top of the cupboards.  The coffee is always on.  Literally.  I have never been to Michelle's and not found a freshly brewed pot....

An old rake head and a well used lariat became kitchen perfection....

This coffee bar is right around the corner.  It's probably my favorite thing at Michelle's house.  There's nothing better than girl talk over coffee!

Barn wood awesomeness right there.

Michelle's hubby went out to the shop one day and whipped this up for their tv....

and then he made this amazing coffee table.  The man has a gift!  I tell him he could sell his pieces and he just laughs and threatens to sell all their furniture....

There's Miss Gwynne getting in my shots again....

I'm looking forward to visiting again soon so I can show you the rest of the house!  Some of it is still a work in progress.  But I'm sure it will be gorgeous....

Now go make something beautiful,

PB
